Pet Patrol with John and Marcia Traversaro Pet Patrol with John and Marcia TraversaroJohn and Marcia Traversaro moved to Half Moon Bay 5 years ago and fell in love with it immediately. They spent the first year remodeling their home and the remaining ones getting involved in community activities.

John is retired from San Francisco Fire Department after 32 years of service. He has lived a life of commitment, beginning with dedication to home and family, and extending out into the local community and internationally through Rotary. He co-founded, with his wife Marcia, Firefighters In The Schools; a non-profit organization whose purpose was to teach fire safety to children and to eradicate the curiosity of "fire starters".

Marcia, east coast born and educated, received her BA and MA degrees from Penn State University, and moved to SF in 1985. She was instantly at home. Even losing all her possessions in the earthquake of 1989 couldn't shake her loose from the west coast. She founded Here For You, a personal services business which specializes in errands, unique gifts, event planning, closet cleansing, and home decorative accessories.

Marcia is passionate about animals, good desserts, laughing and enjoying life with fun-loving friends. She loves sports, theater, special events and travel.

Having always been intimately involved with whatever community in which she has lived, she was honored in The Points of Light Celebration as one of the Top 25 Volunteers in the Bay Area (selected from over 500 nominees) in 1997. John had the distinction of preceding her in that award in 1995. Siskell and Ebert gave them "an enthusiastic two thumbs up!"

John and Marcia live with their cat, Katie, and imaginary dogs, Cuff and Link. They started "Pooches On Parade" last July 4th and have plans for making it even better this July 4th. If you missed it because you hadn't heard about it, no worries ... stay tuned to AM 1710 Neighborhood Radio and you'll never be out of the loop again.
